Special Education Consultation

What do the evaluation results mean?

What do the progress reports and grades mean?

Is my child making effective progress?

Is the IEP sufficient?

Professional review of academic records and thoughtful analysis of testing highlights your child's learning style and helps to explain progress over time.

Expert guidance ensures that a student's needs are appropriately represented in the IEP.

Ongoing consultation aids families in navigating meetings, interpreting progress reports and monitoring the effectiveness of a program from one year to the next.

School Observation

In Massachusetts, families and their representatives may observe all aspects of programming being provided to and proposed for students on IEPs.

A professional school observation captures detailed information about the classroom, teaching-learning dynamic, the curriculum, methodology and service delivery model. The exercise portrays a student's ability to access the curriculum and to demonstrate knowledge

given the current plan.

An independent professional perspective helps families and school teams connect the dots across years of academic records, evaluations and IEPs. Recommendations offered for consideration are explicit, extensive and flow logically from an understanding of the student

and his performance within the program.

School Consultation

Consultation is available to assist school teams in developing and modifying programs to meet the needs of students

with complex learning profiles.

Collaborative coaching might target:

curriculum mapping IEP goals alongside grade level standards, developing language based content courses,

modifying elective classes, strategic student-centered programming targeting independence.

Remote Learning Support

These uniquely challenging times demand creative solutions.

Special education professionals are exhaustively exploring new ways to design and deliver accessible lessons, monitor students' performance and measure their progress. Parents are working overtime to create home learning environments, facilitate their children's engagement and monitor their productivity.

We have not done this before.

Across settings there is a need for robust wraparound support if we are to get this right. Synchronous and asynchronous plans must be designed around students' current performance levels and account for their executive functioning needs. Scheduled time on learning must prioritize the focus on IEP goals.

Remote learning plans should be developed, evaluated and revised as needed, based on relevant data: time on task, learning preferences, task completion and achievement. Everyone needs support. Together we can do this better.
